June was National Safety Month as deemed by the National Safety Council. Every June, thousands of companies and organizations join the council in raising awareness for overall safety.
The primary focus of the National Safety Council is to reduce the causes of injuries and deaths in the workplace, home, on the road and in communities. Safety awareness in all areas of life can greatly decrease the number of preventable deaths.
Lockout and tagout kits
Components Company Inc. takes the safety of its employees, clients and customers very seriously. We have many safety check and measures in place at our facility and in our policies for operation.
One of our safety measures includes our lockout and tagout kits. Lockout products are critical in any organization’s safety program; but especially in those that deal with manufacturing equipment. Lockout tools include items such as padlocks and safety hasps.
A lockout kit is used to prevent machines from accidentally powering on when they are either being repaired or out of order. In some cases, lockout kits are used whenever a machine is turned off during non-operation hours.
Tagout kits add another layer of safety to workplace procedures. When a lockout kit is used on a machine that is not to be in use for whatever reason, a tag is attached to it with the name of the employee responsible and in charge of that machine. That person is the only one authorized to remove the machine’s lockout kit once it is ready to be put back in service. Making one person accountable for the machine decreases the chance of accidents happening with that machine.
Safety remains number one
Components Company has always made the safety of its employees, clients and customers a high priority. Our lockout and tagout kits are just one of the important safety measures in our program, policies and procedures. If you have any questions about our safety program, please contact us.
