Did you know that Components Company Inc. is an authorized Bollhoff Rivnut distributor? We have been distributing rivnuts for more than half a century.
What Are Rivnuts?
Rivnuts were originally developed in the late 1930s by the BF Goodrich Company and sold under the trademark RIVNUT®. They are also known as blind rivet nuts or threaded inserts. The makeup of a rivnut is one piece that is threaded internally which is able to be anchored entirely on one side. The rivnuts were first used to mount de-icing boots to aircraft wings.
Later, Bollhoff acquired the Rivnut original brand trademark from BF Goodrich. Rivnuts are now available in many variations and sizes and therefore used for many different fastening capabilities. But they are also still important components for aviation.
Bollhoff lists the following as some of the benefits of rivnuts:
- Stable thread on thin-walled components
- Installation in case of one-sided accessibility (blind assembly)
- 2 functions (riveting and screwing)
- Flexible application for every production step
- The workpiece is not exposed to thermal stress.
- Low capital expenditure
