Components Company Inc. has remained fully operational and has been satisfying our essential customers’ requirements over the past several months. We have also been sensitive to our employees’ needs during this time.
Playing It Safe and Keeping It Safe
Months ago, we implemented procedures and guidelines for our Brookfield, Wis., facility. For example, the 6-foot distancing regiment has been diligently followed and new sanitization processes have been introduced. We are following federal and state CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) regulations.
Unfortunately, one of those changes included making our break room off-limits. Employees were asked to eat their lunches and take their snack breaks at their respective desks.
Social Distancing While Remaining Social
In uncertain times and when drastic changes to routines are made, it can be difficult to keep an upbeat morale. We consider our employees at Components Company to be a family of sorts.
The closure of the break room created an unwanted barrier between our employees. We knew that socializing between our employees was important and that a lot of conversation took place during work breaks.
So as the weather became warmer, we sought to create an outdoor break room where employees could gather, eat and socialize safely.
We placed several table and chair settings (socially distanced of course) on our grounds. In case of rain or to avoid the hot sun, we also set up a tent with picnic tables.
This outdoor break room has provided our employees with a safe way to socialize together. Since gathering in a crowded indoor conference room is ill-advised, the outdoor tent has also served as a meeting space.
Components Company has always been dedicated to the safety and concerns of our customers and employees. We will continue to be flexible and think out-of-the-box to help make experiences better at our company.
